Paint Code Locations:

In this section we will display paint code locations from major car manufacturers.  Please let us know if it helps or tips and other locations not mentioned.

BMW

BMW paint codes will be located on the drivers side shock tower under the hood.  In this example your paint code will be 354 disscard the /7 after the code as it is not needed.  More information

Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge

Chrysler/jeep/dodge code will typically be found in the drivers side door jamb.  In this example your paint code will be PW7. As a general rule all chrysler/jeep/dodge code will be three letters and numbers beggining with the letter P.  More Information

Ferrari

Ferrari paint codes will be clearly labeled under their deck lid.  In this example the paint code is 322 located behind the color name.  More Information

Ford/Lincoln/Mercury

Ford has standardized their labeling system for years, so 99% of the time you will see a label that looks exactly like this one.  On the bottom left of this decal you will see EXT PNT: and next to it will be a two digit code in this case it is FL.  Sometimes it will be above the EXT PNT: never below.  Most of the time this decal will be in the drivers side door jamb.  More Information

General Motors

(This includes GMC, Chevrolet, Pontiac, Saturn, Buick)

GM paint codes will always be on a sticker like this one.  The location does vary.  Most popular place is in the drivers side door jamb, second most popular place is in the glove box.  The third and final place it could be is in the truck on the deck lid or in the spare tire well.  on the bottom left of the sticker you will see a 4-digit number following the letter U or the letters WA.  In this case your paint code will be U8624.  More Information

Honda/Acura

Honda paint codes will typically be located in the drivers side door jamb.  The code will be in the bottom middle of the decal and will most likley start with NH as in this example the code is NH638M.  Honda code can also start with R, G or B.  For color matching purposes you will also need the 11th digit of the VIN number, in this case it is B.  More Information

Hyundai

Hyundai code will be two digits and located in the top right corner of the decal.  In this example the code is S3.  Mostly located in the drivers side door jamb.  More Information

Kia

Kia, like Hyundai, will place the paint code decal in the drivers side door jamb.  In this example the code is EB.  More Information

Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes is one of the more difficult codes to locate, simply, because it is a 3-digit number on a plate full of 3-digit numbers.  It will typically be located on the bottom left of the plate.  In this example the paint code is 702.  The plate with this information will be located under the hood on the radiator support.  More Information

Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi paint codes will be located on a plate or a sticker under the hood on the firewall passenger side.  The code will be a 3-digit number on the bottom left of the decal.  In this example the code is A31. In the late-90’s early 2000’s Mitsubishi used stickers with water based ink, which over time washed off.  More Information

Nissan

Nissan paint codes will typically be located in the drivers side door jamb.  It will be a combination of three letters and numbers.  In this example the paint code is BW9.  More Information

 

Subaru

Subaru paint codes will be a combination of three letters and numbers.  In this example the code is 54A.  The plate or decal will be located on the drivers side shock tower under the hood or in the passenger side door jamb.  More Information

 

Toyota/Lexus

Toyota paint codes will be located in the drivers side door jamb.  On the decal in the bottom left you will see C/TR: and the first 3-digit series following that will be the paint code.  In this example the code is 1C0.  More Information

Volvo

Volvo paint code decals will most likely be located on the drivers side under the hood.  The code will be on the right side half way down on the sticker.  It will be a 3-digit number, in this example the code is 426 and you will discard the -26 that follows.  More Information

Volkswagen

Volkswagen likes to hide their paint code decal typically it is in the trunk under the spare tire, or behind the drivers side panel in the trunk.  All VW codes will start with an L so if you find the sticker it will be halfway down in the middle.  In this example the code is L551.  More Information
